Friday, March 7th & Saturday, March 8th at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY

NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association), is an annual festival and celebration of music for students in grade school. In preparation we improve ourselves as musicians and enhance the quality of our music at the same time as nurture the individual artist in each of us. We had a great turn out at all of the preparation workshops, and we especially enjoyed all of the students’ comments and feed back. We would like to encourage all students participating in this year’s festival to keep up with their practicing and preparations. Every day, practice all scales and at least one sight-reading.  Also, check for audition times in the mail. We congratulate all who are participating...we are proud of you and send our best wishes for a fantastic festival!

6th Annual Celtic Music Jam

Friday, March 14th - 7:30pmMH900444687

Join us for a short presentation and demo of a variety of Irish instruments, followed by a hands on opportunity to try out the instruments. Families get to play in a live Celtic jam session to conclude the evening.

This year, we are honored to have special guests Hilary Schrauf, Eric Everson, and Kara Doyle performing our Celtic instrument demos, as well as leading us in our jam session. They each come from extensive performance backgrounds and can be heard regularly around the Northeast. This is an event worth coming out to even if you just wish to sit back and enjoy listening to the music.

In addition to learning about and sampling Irish fiddle, penny whistle, guitar, boughran, hammer dulcimer, and the Celtic harp, families will also be introduced to some new and exciting instruments. Thanks to our special guests, we will also have an Irish bouzouki and the beautiful sounds of the uilleann pipes.

IMG_0322Spring Music Recital Series & Art Exhibition

Recitals give students the opportunity to work towards a goal and build confidence performing in front of their family, friends, and peers. They also give students an opportunity to hear what their peers and older students are playing and give them further motivation to practice and try more difficult repertoire. We look forward to sharing in our student’s success as they perform at this year’s Spring Music Recital Series March 28th-30th. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up in person at the front desk to reserve the best times for your family. There will be a reception to follow each recital. Please let the front desk know if you would like to bring a snack or beverage to share.

Friday, March 28th – 7:30pm

Saturday, March 29th – 6:30pm
